“This is not for adults,” we heard from a prepubescent voice behind us. “We’re kids at heart,” we replied with mischievous grins, as we finished the lighthearted obstacle course.
We arrived at the Lakeside MRT Station around midday and hungrily eyed the bountiful selection of MRT food stands. The walk to the Jurong Lake Gardens area took around 5 minutes, even with the slight detour due to construction, presumably for increasing the girth of the lakeside walkways near the main entrance location. We noted that the Jurong PCN was a convenient way to access the park as well, and the main thoroughfare had bicycles aplenty. Wooden lounge chairs were sparsely sprinkled along the lake shore; we took a quick sit to assess the comfort of said chairs. They were definitely loungable. We admired the lake view and observed the various banyan trees scattered about the lake shore.
Further down the shore, a suspended multi-level pavilion with sprawling docks jutted out across the waterfront, providing shade for park-goers chilling at the lakeside.
We observed the Chinese and Japanese Gardens from a distance, as they were still under construction and redevelopment.
Shortly after passing the barred entrance to the Chinese Gardens sector, we happened upon a cluster of hammocks. Many places to relax in Jurong Lake Gardens!
After a fruitful daytrip to the Jurong Lakeside Gardens, we wrapped up the day with some calisthenics and lap swimming, as one does in a tropical country such as Singapore.
